Real shame the FFXIV incarnations dont get a shoutout or even a clip. Especialy considering the XIV incarnation of Shiva is in the thumbnail.

I can't argue with any of the choices on this list. My all time favorite though is still the Topaz Carbuncle from FFXIV. Adorable, and a faithful companion. While FFXIV's "summons" aren't the same as the other games in the franchise, they do have the property of being a constant companion in battles making them feel more personal than the one off attacks that they are in other games. Also I love that in XIV, the more traditional summons are giant boss battles that range from some of the most fun, to some of the most frustrating in the series, as well as including pretty much all the series staples as time goes on.....

I can't argue with anyone on this list, but I still wish Gilgamesh from FF8 was on, since he's the only character to ever be implied to actually cross over between Final Fantasy games and be the same person.

.... My god. Thank you, Nick, for finally cluing me in that the "down" from phoenix down is feathers... I don't know why I never figured that out before...

The down would be the soft "baby feathers" if I'm not mistaken, which is why it's usually not a full revive, (with full HP restoration), in most of the games like casting Pheonix is. However, a few games also have the "Pheonix Pinion" which is the full revive and HP restoration at the same time, with a pinion being a full feather.....

My personal top 3 is #3: Bahamut, #2: Odin, and #1: Shiva. Shiva may not be as powerful but damn I love her. And she's a real babe.

Knights of the Round is so long I literally had time to go to the kitchen, make a double decker balogna sandwich, eat it, and I got back just as it was finishing.

Odin's horse doesn't have enough legs if you ask me. I mean, in Norse Mythology, it had 8 legs, I only count 6 on that one.

I think in some iterations it does have 8. Still, FF has always been about drawing influence and names from mythology, but not copying it directly, so it doesn't surprise me that they don't always give it 8 legs.....
