So as many of you know by now, we have re-launched the community channel. There's been a lot of confusion and worry, so in an effort to make the simplest, least-confusing move without losing this new direction I'm here to let you know the AHCommunityVids will be turning into the Lets Play Community channel!
I want to apologize for this last minute redirection, especially after talking about this with several of you. In a late-night meeting we determined it was best for the community to maintain the present location for our new community channel effort. I know you all will have a new set of questions, but let me try to address a lot of them here and now.
(Before I bury the link, please refer to the new Let's Play Community group for info on how to submit moving forward!)
What content is allowed?
Anything related to Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, ScrewAttack, or Kinda Funny. This includes anything from compilations to animations to speed art. You guys are super creative, so I'm sure you'll think of even more things.
What content isn't allowed?
Let's Plays, community versions of main channel shows, and anything unrelated to the Let's Play group. It goes without saying, but no copyrighted or stolen material. See next question for details on "This is" and Achievement Guides.
What's happening to all of the old series?
Most of the current series will still exist, but since the channel is opening to accept a wider audience, with a goal of uploading more diverse content, we will be dropping older forms of AH shows, such as "This is" and Achievement Guides. These series in particular have become simple ways for people to rack up video count, and this dilutes the channel and buries creative content. Moving forward I'd like to see an emphasis on quality over quantity, as I'd really like this to become a showcase for the amazing talents across our community.
Can I submit stuff with music/copyrighted material?
Royalty free music is allowed as long as you credit it properly and source it in your submission so I can check it. Only use it when necessary, like if you're doing a "how to cosplay" for example. Copyright is a law, not a rule of thumb. If it contains stuff that you don't own, it will not get accepted.
Is self-promotion acceptable?
Let's not treat this channel as a way to get subscribers for your personal Let's Play channel. This is a place to highlight community talent across the many avenues of content that exist. If you're an artist, editor, or animator for example and you'd like credit please leave your name/handle in the description and maybe a link to your portfolio. Ideally, the content will speak for itself. I don't want this to become a way for everyone to try and promote themselves as their only goal.
For any further questions, please leave them in the comments here or in the forums over at the new group page and I'll address them as I can. Once again, I apologize for any confusion. I know you're all worried about what this might mean for you and your content and I completely sympathize. Your content and your creative efforts are, as always, my first priority.
