    • Among the Sleep: a horror game played through the eyes of a child.

From Joystiq: "The effectiveness of a horror game often hinges on its ability to instill a sense of helplessness. Some do this by limiting the number of offensive options. Others do it by removing offensive options altogether. Among the Sleep, from Norwegian developer Krillbite Studio, ups the ante by putting players in control of a two-year-old.

Among the Sleep is played from a first-person perspective, presenting a world full of childlike imagination and terror, in which a child (accompanied only by his faithful teddy bear) must survive the nightmare happenings around him. We're not sure mysterious is exactly the right word, at least not judging by the spooky happenings in the trailer. Among the Sleep is slated to arrive next year on Mac and PC."

It certainly looks interesting, in my opinion. Hopefully we'll see more at E3.

Editor's Note: g1 CommanderZaktan might have posted this first, but HarmlessHazard's post was easier on the eyes. Kudos to everyone who caught wind of this and we will follow up as the story develops.

According to Dual Pixels, games like WoW, DotA 2, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, as well as many other unannounced titles will all be available for the Wii U at launch.

Here's what they had to say:

"A source close to Dual Pixels that has insider knowledge of Nintendo has revealed to us a major Wii U eShop leak featuring titles scheduled for launch and some that are in production for the platform. Wii U, launching this Fall is Nintendo's most technologically advanced console to date with horsepower that rivals PS3 and Xbox 360 allowing our current HD experiences to be recreated on the upcoming console. According to our source, developers are taking note of the opportunities Nintendo presents with Wii U, given the superior processing power that was unavailable on the original Wii. The Wii U eShop leak below contains titles from a suite of publishers including Nintendo themselves, EA, Capcom, Square Enix, Activision, Valve, and more. "

      The list is as follows:

      Valve

      • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (Valve) (Launch)
      • DotA 2 (Valve)

Seems really strange to me. I mean WoW? DotA 2? And most of them are just ports and HD make-overs. I think I'll wait until E3 to see just how far fetched (or true!) this list really is.

What do you make of it?

You wanna know what grinds my gears?

When CoD fans so confidently claim that no matter how much hate a new CoD game gets, EVERYONE who hates on it is going to buy it. That is simply not true. Here's why:

I've heard this claim MANY  times, and given this mindset, I sometimes think a lot of CoD fans don't quite comprehend how MASSIVE CoD really is. And I suppose that's understandable, given that a large portion of it's fanbase is, well... children. We're talking about a franchise that CONSISTANLY  breaks sales records and draws many people in due to its unrelenting reputation in entertainment media. What I'm getting at here, is that there are a LOT of CoD fans out there. No matter how much hate it gets on the internet, the people who actually like it and buy it are in the VAST MAJORITY, and that's why it sells so well every year, because there are simply FAR more fans then there are non-fans. They're just not on forums all the time, they're probably playing CoD.

How does this concern me? Well, frankly, when a CoD fan so confidently says that "everyone who hates it is going to buy it", it, well, pisses me off. Now I'm not a fan of CoD, but I can respect that people do  like it, I mean it IS fun sometimes. I do however have my grievences which make me reluctant to be excited for a new CoD. Now I'm not a fan of CoD, so obviously I must have every CoD game right? Right?

I haven't bought a CoD since 2008. My group of friends? They haven't bought a CoD since... longer. That doesn't make sense... I mean we don't like CoD... so we surely must be buying them every year right?  This is why such claims are wrong. There are many VOCAL people out there like me and my friends who don't like CoD and won't buy it; and we'll express those feelings of the internet (vocal). But there are MANY more NON-VOCAL fans who will buy it every year and who don't express their feelings on the internet. So when CoD fans so confidently claim that every hater is going to buy it, usually under the reason "cuz its just that good" or "cuz they're just bandwagoners", it irks me, because it is simply NOT TRUE. There are other, and in my opinion, better shooters out there for us to spend our money on.

Now, Black Ops 2 has just been revealed and we've seen our first footage. And, like most first impressions of highly anticipated games, I think it looks promising. And considering the supposed leaked multiplayer info, it actually seems like Treyarch is working to finally EVOLVE the franchise. There's a possibility this may restore some of my  faith in this series.

Or not. I actually fully expect this small gllimmer of hope I have to be crushed as we see more footage. But we'll have to wait and see. As of now I am only very slightly interested in Black Ops 2.

Oh, and if I may touch on ScrewAttack's Top 10 Franchises That Need To Die; since 2003, as in the past 9 years, there have been 25 Call of Duty games released (including BO2) across all systems, with at least two titles each year save  for 2003 and 2004, and the most appalling being 2009, when FIVE titles were released. That statistic alone is more than enough reason for this series to die, and surely a much better reason than "wanting the internet to just shut up about it".

Hope this made sense, and cleared some things up. Thanks for reading.
