    • Rise confirmed playable for Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax

As revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu, Rise Kujikawa will be a playable fighter in Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax. Her reveal comes as a surprise because she's a support character in Persona 4 and an NPC in Arena, but here she is. Could the Best Buy rumor be true?

If you're unfamiliar with said rumor, a recent (but now deleted) Best Buy product listing features a quote, which reveals both Rise and Persona 3's Ken Amada as new additions to the P4: Arena roster. It also suggests the game's North American release will occur on September 16.

"Select one of six new characters - including Persona 3 favorites Yukari Takeba, Junpei Iori, and Ken Amada, Persona 4 Arena NPC Rise Kujikawa, and Sho Minazuki and his Persona wielding doppleganger. "

      Could Ken be next?

Also confirmed in the Famitsu article, was the fact that the game will be released this coming August in Japan and would cost over 6,000 yen. The article also mentions a new mode. No exact details were given, but there's a character growth building aspect in which you build up your communication, or social link, with your navigator. More will be revealed when the article officially comes out.

    • New Ace Attorney confirmed to be a prequel thanks to Famitsu scan

Just announced from Famitsu is the new Ace Attorney game for the 3DS titled Dai Gyakuten Saiben: Ryuunosuke Naruhodu no Bouken which roughly translates to Big Ace Attorney: Ryuunosuke Wright's Adventure.

This new game will take place in the Meiji era in Japan and instead star new character Ryuunosuke Naruhodo, an ancestor to Ryuuichi Naruhodou. No other details are known at this time, but series creator Shu Takumi is coming back to serve as the director for this game.

Here's an image of the new protagonist.

I don't know how to feel about this. Shu will make sure that this game turns out to be good, but I'm still a bit worried. Maybe it'll be good. Have to wait and see.

    • New Strider game announced

Recently announced at Comic-Con by a Capcom was a surprise to everyone. A new Strider game was announced. It's being worked on by Double Helix and the development team that made the original Strider and Strider 2. It's been confirmed for release early next year for every next-gen console except the Wii-U, but Capcom says a Wii-U verison is possible.

What we know about the game is that it will have the following.

      - Upgrades
      - Big, interconnected map, Metroidvania/Shadow Complex style
      - Side scrolling
      - 2.5D visuals

Two trailers were released along side of the announcement.

I would say something snarky right here about Capcom and fans and something about Mega Man but I don't really care right now. STRIDER!

    • Roger Craig Smith is the new voice of Batman in Arkham Origins

Along with the new trailer came with some information about the voice actors. The voice actor for Batman was revealed to be Roger Craig Smith, known for playing Chris Redfield, Ezio, and Sonic. Joining him as the Joker will be Troy Baker, known for playing Booker DeWitt, Vincent Brooks, Nova, and several others.

Now comes the confusing part. Kevin Conroy said he would be playing Batman originally but what happened? Well as it turns out he is playing Batman, in the next Arkham game. He revealed this in a twitter message that was later taken down. Images of the message still exist though.

    • Mutant Football League revival on Kickstarter

A team being lead by Michael Mendheim, the creator and designer of Mutant League Football and Mutant League Hockey, are trying to kickstart a new Mutant League Football game. A big goal of 750,000 dollars with 22 days and 38,983 made so far. It's a far goal, but it's a title I really want to see happen.

    • Former LucasArts employee: "This 99 percent complete stuff is just BS"

A few days ago Free Radical co-founder Steve Ellis said in an interview that Star Wars Battlefront 3 was 99% done and stopped because of financial issues, but a former LucasArts member who wishes to stay anonymous has come out and talked about this.

"This 99 percent complete stuff is just bullsh*t,  a generous estimate would be 75 percent of a mediocre game.
"I was at LucasArts during this time, working on Battlefront III, and remember it well. Everybody from producers to marketing was 100 percent invested in making the relationship work. We were desperate for a next-gen followup to Battlefront (the claim that the project was sabotaged for financial reasons is ludicrous. The [Battlefront] franchise was a huge money maker at the time). When Free Radical continually missed dates and deliveries, [former LucasArts presidents Jim Ward and Darrell Rodriguez] made many 'good will' whole or partial milestone payments to keep the project going."

He goes on to say that the three reasons that this game failed was because of Haze, Free Radical underestimating itself, and Free Radical missing assigned dates.

The work schedual for Battlefront 3 went something like this according to the source.

Work began in mid-2006 with a delivery date of October 2008. In August of 2007 Free Radical was having trouble making both Haze and Battlefront 3 so they decided to shoot around Time Splitters 4 in order to make money. In December 2007 the game was a horrible mess and didn't work on the 360 build of it. Apparently it was the kit, but when LucasArts asked for one of Free Radical's working machines to test the game they declined. At this time the only game mode enabled was a team based free-for-all mode with maps that didn't focus on the action.

In January 2008 LucasArts and Free Radical realized they wouldn't be able to make the date and changed the street date to April 2009. Then in May 2008 Haze finally shipped. It got horrible reviews which was a surprise to LucasArts who were ensured that the delays were to make sure that the game would be great and recieve good reviews. By late 2008 Free Radical looked like it couldn't make the April 2009 deadline. This was confirmed in September of 2008 when key staff left Free Radical and they missed key milestones in August, September, and October. The game was finally canceled at this point.

Honestly, I think that LucasArts is being truthful here. It really made no sense to cancel a game at 99%. Whether you agree or not with them, there's one thing we can all agree on. Haze was the cause of everything.

    • Xbox Live Rewards promises MS points for Achievements this fall

Editor's Note: This is very similar to a Rewards program that Sony abandoned in 2010. I was part of the Beta program, but instead of earning money (because PSN doesn't use "space bucks") you were rewarded with DLC and other content. Sony would present a weekly challenge with points associated to it ( for example; getting a gold trophy in LBP2 will net you XX points) and those points would be added  to a Rewards Tier. Hit the next Tier, get free content. Sony decided to abandon this idea, but Microsoft might be picking up where they left off...

Xbox Live rewards recently tweeted that a new way to earn Xbox Live Rewards is coming via achievements this fall. The service has already been offering ways to get points via surveys and purchasing things on Xbox live. This new way would actually find a way to make achievements useful instead of it just being used for fun/bragging rights.

Do you think that Sony or the new Nintendo console will use something like this in the future or do you think it'll just be Microsoft? I hope the others do it because I can finally be rich on PSN.

      Please Sony.

    • [Rumor] Playstation All Stars Characters and stages leaked

Editor's Note: Evil Cole but no Crash Bandicoot? Sony, I am disappoint. Well, that's to say disappoint if this leak is legit. *Cough!* Oh and to the guy who posted the images on Reddit, we know they were leaked, so there was no need to write "leak leak leak leak leak leak leak leak leak leak" all over them. Just saying.

With the recent Playstation All Stars Battle Royal  beta comes rumors of a massive  leak, which reveals new characters, game modes and stages.

Characters and stages have been shown through leaked images that have surfaced on Reddit and NeoGAF.

      The characters are

      • Ratchet and Clank (Ratchet and Clank)
      • Spike (Ape Escape)
      • Sackboy (LittleBig Planet)
      • Sir Dan (MediEvil)
      • Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
      • Evil Cole (inFamous)
      • Raiden (MGS: Rising)
      • Dante (DmC)

Yes. The DmC verison of Dante. *sigh*  Why did it have to be that verison?

The leaked stages are one of the main reasons why this rumor isn't thrown out immediately. These stages are well made and overall look actually real.

The new stages are as followed.

      • "Columbia" (BioShock Infinite)
      • "Alden's Tower" (Infamous)
      • "Invasion" (Killzone)
      • Name Unknown (LocoRoco)
      • Name Unknown (Sly Cooper)
      • "Black Rock Stadium" (Twisted Metal)

Here's a gallery of the leaked images:

Enjoy and all that. In my opinion, I'm dissapointed and happy at the same time. I got several of my favorite characters in, SIR DANIEL, but at the same time there's still a lot more characters that deserve to make the cut. I hope that this isn't the full roster. That's if this leak is legit is legit of course.

In related news, another leak has said to have gotten the full roster list from an unnamed source.

Parappa the Rapper (Parappa the Rapper)
Jak and Daxter (Jak and Daxter)
      Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
      Radec (Killzone)
      Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)
Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII) (Paul Gale's third female)
      Kratos (God of War)
      Fat Princess (Fat Princess)
      Sly Cooper (Sly Cooper)
Ratchet and Clank (Ratchet and Clank)
      Spike (Ape Escape)
Musashi (Brave Fencer Musashi) (Paul Gale's RPG character)
      Sackboy (LittleBig Planet)
      Sir Dan (MediEvil)
      Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
      Cole (inFamous)
      Evil Cole (inFamous)
      Big Daddy (BioShock)
      Raiden (MGS: Rising)
      Dante (DmC)
      Toro (Toro)
      Heihachi (Tekken)

      *Headdesk* I hate betas sometimes.
