Honestly, I'm surprised at how harsh some critics have been on this movie. The fans seem to enjoy so far, and they're the real critics when it comes to superhero movies.

Justice League is far from being a perfect movie-- it isn't mind-blowingly spectacular, the CGI is often mediocre, and it feels a little choppy, a result of Joss Whedon filling in for Zach Snyder near the end of the production & reshooting parts of the film. But it's extremely fun to watch-- a complaint many people had about Batman v Superman-- and it gets the characters right. Jason Momoa rocks as Aquaman, Ezra Miller makes for a comical, yet socially awkward new Flash, and Gal Gadot continues to nail Wonder Woman. More importantly, it gives fans reason to be excited for future DC movies like Aquaman, Flashpoint & Green Lantern Corps.

The DCEU is still a work in progress. After the huge success of Wonder Woman, Justice League needed to build off of its momentum, in order to get the DC train up and running. It certainly does that, but certainly not as well as it could have done. It may be time for Warner Bros to part ways with Snyder, and hand the wheel over Whedon & Geoff Johns, in shaping this movie universe.

    • RIP Roy Halladay

As a die-hard baseball fan, it's always something special when you get to watch a true legend of the game in real time. Roy Halladay was one such player.

From the moment he joined my favorite team, the Phillies, I was his #1 fan. I tried to never miss a single one of his starts, because I knew there was always the chance for him to do something special. And because of that, I got to watch him throw the 20th perfect game in baseball history. I then watched him throw the 2nd no-hitter in postseason history. He was simply an artist when it came to pitching.

Off the field, he was a role model for all professional athletes. A true family man, he had a soft spot for kids. After he retired, he coached his sons' Little League teams. As much as he loved the game, he enjoyed spending time with his family even more. And that's what makes his sudden death hurt even more. I'm still numbed by the news of his plane crash. At just 40 years of age, he still had so much to give. I had always hoped that one day, he might return to the Phillies as a pitching coach, and finally win his World Series ring. Instead, I have to settle with the wonderful memories he gave me, and millions of other people.

Rest well, Doc. You will be missed. sob sob sob

    • This is cool, yet absolutely terrifying

Seems we are closer to living in the world of Blade Runner/Terminator than I thought. Saudi Arabia just made an advanced humanoid named "Sophia" an official citizen.

This could end up being a monumental event, for better or worse. We truly are entering the realms of science fiction now.

Poor Mali is the loneliest elephant in the world. She was stolen from her family as an infant, and has spent all 40 years of her life in a small, confined concrete space, denied the company of other elephants. She's so lonely that she holds her tail for comfort. It's the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen.

PLEASE help her by clicking on the link above and signing the petition to move her to an elephant sanctuary where she can be happy. NO ANIMAL deserves this!

    • Why Blade Runner bombed at the box office

Here's the thing about general audiences-- a good chunk of them are clueless idiots with little to no understanding of what a true cinematic masterpiece looks like. This is the same audience that pays good money to watch total garbage, such as Michael Bay's diarrhea that is the Transformers movies.

For me, this is extremely disheartening as it means there's a good chance that there won't be another Blade Runner movie, which you can argue Blade Runner 2049 seems to be potentially setting up for. Masterpieces such as this gem don't come up often, and it's a shame when they don't get the recognition they so greatly deserve, because it doesn't have enough loud, pointless action sequences in them. It's why Hollywood is the way it is.

Just my 2 cents as a fan & student of the cinematic arts.

Blade Runner certainly didn't need a sequel. Some people feared it might rob the original film of it's mystery & mystique. But that isn't the case with Blade Runner 2049. In fact, this film may very well be one of the best sequels of all-time!

The spirit of the original 1982 sci-fi masterpiece lives on in this visually stunning sequel, while also expanding the dystopian world of Blade Runner, and the lure that surrounds it. The entire cast is terrific, and director Denis Villeneuve fills Ridley Scott's (who served as the film's producer & consultant) shoes almost perfectly. One thing I kept telling everybody about this film for months is that it had the perfect cast & crew (if Roger Deakin doesn't FINALLY win an Oscar for his gorgeous cinematography in this movie, it will be an absolute crime), and it really shows in the final product.

The original Blade Runner is my all-time favorite film, and this sequel does more than just deliver. While the original is still the best, 2049 certainly gives it a run for its money. Definitely one of the best movies of 2017 & a must-see for any hardcore movie-lover or sci-fi fan!

    • Ever want a Blade Runner Anime?

      ragusa33 Goose Master

If so, then you're in luck! Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Wantanabe has joined forces with Denis Villeneuve to create a anime short film called Blade Runner: Blackout 2022. The film takes place 3 years after the original Blade Runner film, and sets up the series of events that ultimately lead up to the new sequel, Blade Runner: 2049.

It is absolutely stunning, leaving you wanting an entire Blade Runner anime series! There's also more than a few Easter Eggs in there for anyone who knows the original movie. I highly recommend it to any anime or sci-fi fans!

      &t=1s

On a separate note, early reviews of the new movie are coming in, and they are overwhelmingly positive, some even going as far as saying it's better than the first film. Now I don't know about that, but it's an encouraging sign nonetheless. Can't wait to see it!

    • Can we just call Trump a racist already?

      ragusa33 Goose Master

Let's break down all the things he's done:

      1) Revoked an imaginary invite to Stephen Curry, star player of the NBA champion Warriors.

      2) Belittled Colin Kaepernick, and dozens of other African-American athletes for taking a knee during the national anthem.

      3) Defended the white supremacists & Neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, saying that there were some "very fine people" among them.

      4) Pardoned Joe Arpaio, a man guilty of committing racial profiling & police brutality.

And this is just recent stuff from the last 2-3 months! It's been well-documented of how he has mistreated people of color & minority in the past. It's time to stop tip-toeing around the obvious: the guy is a flat-out racist piece of shit, who is fanning the flames of hatred & division in this country. It's unacceptable, and it has to end. FUCKING PERIOD.

Jack's got a boring ol' Shure SM57, looks like. You can probably find one for about $100, and they're as tough as a hammer.
The rest look like they might be Audio-Technica AT2020s. About $120 on Amazon. Great all-purpose mics for a budget studio.

This message is going out to several people:

I went against my usual reflexes and added you as a random friend. This means that most likely you will be one of the first ones dropped from my friends' list if you do not make any attempts to connect.

My suggestion is to put me on watch so that you can start commenting on my journals/images and I do check my mod history and will take mod points into account because sometimes people are just too busy to comment.

I plan on trimming my list in another month or two. Just a heads up!
