    • Wii Us graphic power finally revealed!

      southsing

The Wii Us full graphical capabilities have been revealed! So what are they, you ask? This list may make things less complicated:

      • The Wii U has AMD's RV770 line of proccessors
      • The GPU core features 320 stream processors, 16 texture pack units, and 8 ROPs (render output units)
      • The engine being utilized in the Wii U is roughly a 4650/4670
      • The Wii U's clock speed runs at 550 MHz

In laymens terms, the Wii U can run 720p very easily and is more powerful than the Xbox 360 and the PS3. So, that rumor can finally be put to rest! Hooray! Unfortunately, doing 1080p on the Wii U is pushing it a lot. Oh, and about the WIi U in comparison to the Xbox 720 and the PS4. The average predicted specs for both those systems EAT the Wii U. Definitely not good for the Wii U, as it will be in the exact same place the original Wii was.

    • [Rumor] Ubisoft is preparing a new game engine for the next-gen Playstation and Xbox

      southsing

Ubisoft has decided to go ahead with a new games engine, as with the inevitable unveilment of at least one of the other next-gen systems, it would make sense to do so. According to a report from Polygon, the teams from Ubisoft Montreal (Assassins Creed, Far Cry) and Ubisoft Montpellier (ZombiU, Rayman Legends), will be cooperating with the French government and with the University of Lyon. The project has been codenamed "Mango" and will be recieving about a 14 million pounds over the next 22 months (about $18.5 million dollars).

    • EA outlines battle plans for their Frostbite engine

      southsing

According to people from EA, their Frostbite 3 engine is going to be entirely capable of running on the Xbox 360 and PS3, despite its tremendous power. EA also announced the creation of a modified Frostbite 3 engine called "Frostbite Go", to be made for Android and iOS devices. In addition, all future Star Wars games made by EA will be powered by Frostbite.

Yes, in case you didn't notice, they aren't making, nor will ever be making, Frostbite for the Wii U. EA said that, when testing with the Wii U, they experienced some "not too promising results" simply with Frostbite 2.Yes, this will mean no future Star Wars games or any of EAs triple A titles. Despite the fact they showed footage of Battlefield 3 running just fine with the Wii U at E3. On Frostbite 2. Two years Ago. When the Wii U wasn't even in Alpha.

    • Microsoft teasing something BIG for the next E3

      southsing

Editor's Note: I think what southsing means to say is that Microsoft is very much likely counting down the days until the reveal of its next console. But I guess Kinectimals 2 would be an OK reveal of its own....I guess...supposedly.

If this is indeed the countdown to a next-gen console reveal, when do you think we'll see it released? Late 2013 or sometime in 2014? I'm leaning on 2014 myself, as I don't think Microsoft would reveal a console 5-6 months before its release date.

Earlier today, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has posted a countdown clock on his website, counting the days to E3 2013. The E3 tagline asks "What's next?", answering itself with "Now". I think its pretty obvious what Microsoft is looking so forward to this E3. KINECTIMALS 2!

    • EA: Sim City DRM broken because "it's too much fun"

      southsing

In one of the most convincing PR moves in all of history, EA justified its server overloads and always-on DRM in one fell swoop!

"We saw that players where having such a good time they didn't want to leave our game, which kept our servers packed and made it difficult for new players to join."

As quoted from senior producer Kip Katsarelis. In this new position of complete justification, it is now way too fun to ever quit from Sim City, and it's entirely your fault for having played the game in the first place!

      Incredible.
    • [Rumor] Nintendo working on a cartrige to stream content from the Wii U to 3DS

      southsing

Editor's Note: As cool an idea as this is, I'm not totally buying it. Sure the Wii U GamePad is essentially a bigger (although more advanced) DS and the 3DS is capable of processing some great visuals but I'm not sure it can handle the task of being a GamePad. Does the 3DS have the graphical capabilities needed to play Wii U games? Could the resolution settings of the Wii U games be downgraded when played on the 3DS hardware? I don't know. Using the 3DS as basic control for the Wii U on the other hand, is something I'd find more believable and a great idea within itself.

I do like the idea of a second GamePad and this would surely give people who already own a 3DS a nice, cheaper alternative to buying a separate controller. So hopefully there's some truth to this and Nintendo can somehow pull it off.

A new rumor has emerged from the French Nintendo fansite Nintendo-Master.com, which speculates that in the future, the 3DS could become a Wii U tablet of sorts, thanks to a cartridge add-on that Nintendo-Master's sources say is "currently in development"!

This cartridge will allow a sort of streaming similar to the Wii U and the GamePad and it will allow the 3DS to be a controller for your Wii U. Unfortunately, only those who bought the Circle Pad Pro accessory will be able to use this feature, if this "product" becomes a reality.

Wii Daily U thinks this Nintendo DS cartridge patent image Siliconera dug up a couple of years ago could be an early prototype of this rumored 3DS add-on:

WUD suggests a receiver capable of transferring data between the Wii U and 3DS could fit inside this cart.

What do you think about this?

    • Rumors about the Durango!

      southsing

An inside source simply referred to as "SuperDaE has revealed some interesting new tidbits about the Durango. For instance, the Durango will be featured alongside the Kinect 2. Not in some bundles, but as the actual pack-in controller with the system. In fact, the only way to get the Durango to work is to have the Kinect 2. The Kinect 2 can detect 6 people at once, and will be able to track thumbs independantly. In addition, Kinect 2 has a facial recognition system built in, which will allow it to see if you're, happy, angry, sad etc. \

Another mandatory feature for the Durango will be the installation of games directly onto the console. This means no saving your games onto USBs or SD cards. To accomodate all the downloads, the Durango will feature a 500 GB hard drive. Games are also reportedly able to be installed as backgrounds for the Durango. In addition, multiple games and applications can be run at the same time, similar to PCs and smartphones. Xbox 360 controllers will not work for the Durango because of the new wireless technology. As for the specifications of the Durango:

      • It will feature an 8 core, 64 bit CPU running at 1.6 GHz
      • Additionally, it will have an 800 mhz Direct X 11 capable GPU
      • Along with that, it has 8GB of DDR3 memory, and an 50GB optical disk drive

It is also noted that th Durango can run 1080p in 3D quite easily.

    • Several New Wii U announcements!

      southsing

The Wii U is set to have a Wii U Controller Pro, which looks a lot like a Xbox controller, and afterwards, they revealed a trailer. The trailer showed in-game chat functionality, and switching through playing the game and chat. The chat was then shown to be able to connect to other devices, such as mobile phones and computers. Voice chat was also demonstrated. Additionally, you can take in-game screen shots, and post them in the chat. The new starting area, called Mii Wara Wara, shows the most popular games being played at the moment, and all of the different comments about them.

Finally, you can stream internet and videos  to the Wii U, as shown in the previous E3. This time though, Nintendo has added a feature to hide whatever you are streaming to the TV with curtains. Curtains as in Curtains on the TV.

What do you guys think? :)
