It's been teased before, but this time a day before Nintendo's latest Nintendo Direct announcements, screenshots of a 3D remake of Majora's Mask for the 3DS appeared on the Spanish website, Extralife.
The game seems to be listed at a price of 41.95 euros and is rumored to be out on November 8 (don't know if this is just Europe or worldwide). You can take this with a grain of salt, but Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D had a similar leak before its announcement. There are also some other things to consider:
1. The game in the screenshot appears next to the Smash Bros 3DS game, which was confirmed in issues of Nintendo Power last year to have a "TBA 2013" release date.
2. The Hyrule Legends Brazilian fan site of the game was registered even before the fan page for Pokemon X & Y, so this could mean that retailers have known about it for a while and registered that webpage to garner interest in the game.
3. Quite a few Zelda games have typically seen November release dates.
Also, Xtralife was accurate with their reveal of the 32GB Nexus 7 three weeks before it was released.
My personal opinion is that this time it will happen and we will have a 3D remake of Majora's Mask for the 3DS by November because Nintendo will need to throw out some enticing games before the 2013 Christmas/holiday shopping season and with the Wii U having such a slow year, they will need something to get them sales. In addition to this, new Zelda games are still being worked on, so this would be a way of throwing fans something in the interim to play. I don't think it's a coincidence that this leak happened a day before the Nintendo Direct announcement. I also think the Smash Bros game will be part of the announcement today & will most likely be released before the end of the year as Nintendo Power projected.
I got my information from Zelda Informer. There was even a live Q&A session yesterday where select fans got their text messages answered.
